The Parent Teacher Association (aka PTA) is a vital, instrumental part of engaging our students and enriching their experience at Emery Park. We need parents and community members to fill critical positions for next year.

There are two ways to participate in PTA:
1. ELECTED POSITIONS serve a one-year term (starting in July) on the PTA Executive Board and meet monthly on the 1st Thursday at 6:30pm (in-person or Zoom). Training is offered to prepare you for your position.
President: Leader & official contact for the PTA, a nonprofit corporation.
Executive Vice President: Assist the President, help PTA meet its goals.
Secretary: Take minutes (notes) at meetings and maintain PTA records.
Treasurer: Pay bills; prepare financial reports; track funds & expenses.
Vice President, Fundraising: Plan & organize PTA fundraising activities.
Vice President, Membership: Track & promote PTA membership.
Communications: Design flyers; post on social media & website.
Parliamentarian: Ensure PTA compliance with By-Laws & standing rules.
Historian: Track volunteer hours & maintain records of PTA events.
2. COMMITTEES are made up of volunteers & PTA members who work together to organize specific events or programs. Committees will meet occasionally. Anyone can participate on a committee, without a long-term commitment.
Merchandise: Promote & sell Emery Park apparel; order new stock.
Halloween Festival: Plan annual event with food, games, costume contest.
Movie Nights: Plan 2-3 outdoor family movie viewings at the school.
Reflections Art Contest: Run art contest; collect entries; oversee judging.
Programs: Research & plan special school assemblies & presentations.
Founder's Day: Collect donation items; select service award recipients.
Scholarships: Collect entries and facilitate judging and selection.
Book Fair: Plan, set-up and staff a multi-day book fair at the school.
(Note: Each PTA Board or committee member must complete the Volunteer Requirements per AUSD which include a TB test, background check and fingerprinting.)
Elections will be held on April 11 at the PTA Association meeting. Current PTA members are eligible to to vote.
